NSW Selective High School Placement Mock Test
✔ Computer-Based Examination for entry into NSW selective high schools ✔ Evaluates academic ability and critical thinking ✔ Tests four key areas: Reading, Writing, Mathematical Reasoning, and Thinking Skills ✔ Results are used to determine placement offers for Year 7
Reading: Assesses a student's comprehension and ability to interpret different types of texts, such as fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and articles. It consists of multiple-choice questions.
Mathematical Reasoning: Tests problem-solving skills and the application of mathematical concepts from the Year 6 curriculum. This is also a multiple-choice section and calculators are not permitted.
Thinking Skills: Replaces the previous "General Ability" section and measures critical thinking, logical reasoning, and creative problem-solving. It is a multiple-choice section.
Writing: Requires students to write a response to a single prompt within a given time limit. It evaluates a student's creativity, organization, and technical writing skills, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
